The business first opened on the 26th of June 1961 at premises opposite to the present site.
James Patrick Snr had for many years worked for various meat establishments in Lanarkshire, but when the chance of his own shop came up he took it with both hands.
The current premises, 334 Main Street, has been in Patrick hands since 1968 and has been getting modernised and extended ever since.

At Patricks, we like to offer the finest of Scotch Meat available to you. All our meat comes from specially selected farmers and wholesalers that we have used for many, many years. Whether it be a breakfast with award winning sausages, or a dinner party for 10, at Patricks you’ll find the meat’s a treat.
The current owner of the shop is Jim and his son James runs the front shop whilst his other son Jon bakes all your favourite pies & bakery goods fresh every morning. Jim has worked at the family shop since leaving school. 2020 has seen the retirement of Jims brother Robert who can be found pounding the fairways of Glenbervie Golf Club these days(pounding the fairways is what he asked us to say, but really you’ll mostly find Robert out in the rough cursing away to himself whilst searching for his ball).
Of the 10 full time staff we have, 5 have been trained on food hygiene to intermediate level, and 2 are getting specialist further training from Scottish Meat Training. We have a continuous training programme for our staff which benefits us, our staff and our customers.
What really sets our shop apart from most of the others is the quality of products we sell especially in the manufactured products such as Burgers, Sausages and our multi-award winning Pies.
In our time we have won the Scottish Championship for Sausages not once but twice. We are still the only butchers from North of the Border to have won the title of best sausages in the UK. We have won best burger in the UK and also best burgers in Scotland. We have also won the title of best steak pies in Central Scotland.
And as well as the dozens of other awards won over the years in 2004 we won the World Haggis Championship and followed that up 3 years later to take the runner up spot. At the Scottish Independent Retail Awards we won the top prize of Scotland’s Butcher of the year in both 2016 & 2018, and in 2017 we were awarded Central Scotland’s Butcher of the year. We’ve been presented with awards from several high profile celebrity chefs who have all surely loved our tasty products just as much as you.

Another notable feature is that everything we do is done on these single premises. We don’t have a special sausage area. We don’t have a designated boning factory but we do have all the expertise to do all these tasks on one site with one set of highly skilled workers.
Throughout our history, we have always maintained strong connections with our local community, mainly by supporting local sports clubs and charities. Some of the sports clubs we have supported over the years include Camelon Juniors FC, Stenhousemuir FC & Falkirk FC. We organise regular donation drives, competitions and supply raffle prizes to local charities such as Strathcarron Hospice, FDAMH, Forth Valley Sensory Centre and Falkirk Football Community Foundation.
We are an integral part of life in Falkirk and are proud to say, Patricks of Camelon, where we have roots not branches.
